It’s the last day of September, and aside from being the day the big ship sails it’s also the day we decided dig deeper into the mind of our financial controller, Paddy O’Halloran.

Paddy’s had quite the year, becoming a father back in April and helping to steer Metis Ireland through the pandemic with a firm, sure grip. Along with being part of the leadership team he’s responsible for all of our internal and external reporting. He’s the person most likely to get excited about data analytics, which is great because it’s a really important part of his job.

Over to you, Paddy.

Good afternoon, Paddy! Describe in three words the kind of work you do every day.
All things Financial!

What’s been your proudest moment at Metis Ireland?
The birth of my first child in April and the support from my work colleagues around that time. I couldn’t have asked for better.

Little Ogie is going to have the most comprehensive financial plan of any baby on the planet with a team like this around him! Tell us the quote or phrase that goes through life with you.
Your health is your wealth.

An excellent philosophy that we could all do with being reminded of. Paddy, what’s in your Metis LifePlan?
A family trip to Australia to visit my sister and her family. And introduce them to baby Ogie, of course.

So speaking of travel, where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
It has to be Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. So beautiful and unique.

Who is your hero and why?
Eric Cantona – no explanation needed!

Roger that! And finally, if you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?
To travel and see the world as much as possible. There’s such a lot of world to see out there.

There certainly is, Paddy. There certainly is. Thank you for your time today and take care.
