I’m Keith, and this is what it’s like to be a Private Client Manager at Metis Ireland.

Why I chose Metis Ireland:

I believe we’re Ireland’s leading financial planning firm. We continue to innovate in the financial planning space with our client-centric model. We put our clients and their families at the heart of everything we do and help them to achieve their dreams, goals and aspirations.

My Role as a Private Client Manager:

The role of Private Client Manager at Metis Ireland is multidimensional. My main focus is to foster and nurture new and existing client relationships, and provide world-class financial planning service at all times. I work closely with our clients to understand what’s important to them, what they want to achieve, what worries them and how they see their future.

My day to day role:

There’s no set script or outline for any day or week in my role. No two days are the same and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Private Clients Managers have the autonomy and freedom to perform their roles with the full support of the Senior Leadership, Financial Planning and Client Service Teams. Some key ingredients to succeed in the Private Client Manager role include commitment, dedication, leadership, technical knowledge and most importantly effective communication with both my clients and my colleagues.

A typical week will include:

Diary Management:

A key component of my role is efficient planning, organisation and management of my diary. I plan my diary over a week in advance to ensure the effective management of my time. This provides me with a road map to follow in completing my many tasks. It allows me to have the right balance between all the good stuff mentioned below while giving me the ability to be flexible.

Client meetings, networking events & coffees:

I have around 12 (sometimes more) meetings a week. These include existing client meetings, initial client meetings or ‘get to know each other’ coffees, in addition to Metis LifePlan presentations and networking events. I get to meet a wide variety of people. Some are business owners, professionals or retirees, some are starting out on their financial planning journey. Others are already enjoying the clarity, organisation and peace of mind that a Metis LifePlan brings.

Working alongside the Financial Planning & Client Service Team:

I work very closely with my ‘POD’. This provides a dedicated financial planner and a client services associate to my clients. Together, we manage all my existing and prospective new clients’ needs. This includes managing client portfolios, performing Metis LifePlan reviews, and analysing strategies for clients to ensure their financial and lifestyle objectives are on track. We manage onboarding for new clients, from prospect to recommendation right through to Metis Ireland client and beyond. Our ‘POD’ system ensures that we consistently provide world-class service levels to our clients.

Education & learning:

It’s important to keep up to date with developments in the financial planning industry. I read, and listen to topical podcasts to continuously develop my financial and technical expertise. Additionally I engage with our Senior Leadership Team around strategies to improve our client relationships and business processes.

I believe Metis Ireland really delivers value in its relationships with our clients. It’s one thing to have a set of corporate values and quite another to genuinely put clients first. Our whole team is geared around listening, understanding and helping and that’s why I really enjoy my role.
