Since medalling silver at the 2018 Women’s Hockey World Cup final, Róisín has been on a continual upward trajectory. She’s currently on the Road to Tokyo – a journey of 9,720 km, to be exact – so keep your eyes peeled for her at the next Olympic Games.
Róisín started her hockey career during her time at Crescent College. She went on to cement her passion and skill with a series of wins at the University of Connecticut, as player for Connecticut Huskies. Róisín also managed to find time to earn her BA in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and an MA in Primary Education from Mary Immaculate College.
If that wasn’t enough, she was also voted Limerick Person of the Year in 2019, Limerick Sportsperson of the Year in 2018 and 2019, and Limerick Sportsperson of the Decade. Róisín’s dedication and resilience reflect our values at Metis Ireland; we’re thrilled to have her representing us as Brand Ambassador this year.
Perhaps we’ll get a few hockey tips out of it too?
Q: What do Metis Ireland and hockey have in common?
A: Róisín Upton.
Hailing from Raheen, Limerick, proud Irish lass Róisín is our newly appointed Metis Ireland Brand Ambassador for 2020 (try saying that ten times, fast). She won her first Irish cap in November 2016 and since then has been capped 76 times, scoring 17 goals.
