Day at the Races – Clonmel
On Thursday 3rd of October, Metis Ireland organised a ‘Day at the Races’ in Clonmel.
We started our day by gathering at the Donoughmore Club where we watched the Ireland v Russia match with plenty of coffee, tea and pastries that lovely Eileen freshly made for us that morning. Once the match was over, we headed to Clonmel Racecourse where we had a special room reserved (much needed with Hurricane Lorenzo providing us with plenty of rain!) for all our guests to watch the races in comfort.
After the first race, Ian Cooke gave a presentation about Metis Ireland, who we are, what we do and what sets us apart from all other financial planning companies. Laying out our Metis LifePlan, Ian could not have put it any better when he said “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”; simply put, our Metis LifePlan we will provide a clear financial road map to put you and your family in the best possible position to achieve your Lifestyle Goals.
After Ian’s presentation it was back to the business at hand, watching and enjoying the races. However, it wasn’t long before our special guest arrived and diverted all attention; the one and only Davy Russell, Irish National Hunt jockey, dropped in to surprise our guests. Davy has been the champion of the Irish Jockey Jumper three times, twice won the Grand National and one Cheltenham Gold Cup and French Gold Cup each. It was a real honour to meet him.
And the surprises didn’t end there, our guest Siobhan and myself were each given the honour of presenting the Best Turned-out Award for two of the races.
Thank you to Eugene Cooney for arranging this.
The atmosphere at Clonmel Racecourse was fantastic, helped along by a delicious lunch and decadent cheesecake, it was a great day which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and the majority of whom were delighted to carry on the festivities late in to the evening…
Thank you to all our guests and to all the staff at both the Donoughmore Club and Clonmel Racecourse. Special thank you Hurricane Lorenzo for mostly avoiding Clonmel!
But as the inimitable Dolly Parton says “The way I see it, if you want a rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.”
